Who We Are
Renew Rocktown has served Harrisonburg and Rockingham County since 2015. As an alliance of organizations committed to climate action and social justice, we work together at the intersection of environmental sustainability, social equity, and smart economic development.
Our coalition has led several impactful initiatives, including the creation of Harrisonburg’s Environmental Action Plan, the establishment of Harrisonburg’s Sustainability Manager position, and securing over $100,000 in grant funding to support energy efficiency upgrades for local residents in need.
The Challenge
Even with our accomplishments, the current collaborative of volunteer-run environmental organizations lack the capacity, resources, and administrative capabilities to respond to the needs and growing opportunities in our community.
To build ongoing collaboration and action around our transportation, housing, food, health, waste, land use, agricultural, and energy needs, it is time to establish a strong, well-staffed, proactive, and adequately funded non-profit.
What We Envision
A leading non-profit organization, grounded in our Valley, that can ignite and foster community-led, collaborative, and just action.
Join Us
The 501(c)(3) non-profit will have an Executive Director and be equipped to lead and facilitate meaningful action in the Central Shenandoah Valley. We need and would greatly appreciate your support in bringing this vision to life.
