WHO ARE WE?

Our group consists of passionate residents, university students and professors, activists, business owners, non-profit and faith leaders. While we work with a large number of people in the community, a core group (which anyone is welcome to join!) meets every other Thursday to report on projects and regroup.

If you are a community or neighborhood group and see your mission and vision aligning with ours, please contact us. We would love to learn about how we can best support one another and work together.
We work with residents and community groups to help organize events to spread awareness about environmental issues. Here, we helped organize a Standing Rock Vigil with other community members.

WANT YOUR HOME WEATHERIZED?

Community Housing Partners (CHP) offers free weatherization to those who income qualify. See if you are qualified here.

WORKING WITH THE CITY

In order to teach ourselves and our community about innovative and viable environmental initiatives, we often connect Harrisonburg departments with leaders from surrounding cities to share environmental successes in their area.
Nell Boyle, Roanoke's Sustainability Coordinator, meets with the business leaders in Harrisonburg to help setup a similar coalition to Roanoke.

CLIMATE ACTION IN VIRGINIA

We want to see Harrisonburg take action similar to Blacksburg and Charlottesville, who are both working on plans to address climate change locally.

If you're a student and would like to gain more experience with environmental projects and/or activism, please contact us.
Our first two meetings were held at Matchbox Realty's office, who has been a leading partner in starting this initiative.
At each meeting, we have guest speakers share their expertise relating to environmental sustainability. Alleyn Harned from Virginia Clean Cities spoke to business leaders about what they can do to improve their vehicle fleets and save energy.
